Gospel of John chapter1 verse 1 thus says
“in the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was
God”. A set of people believes that there is God. Some other people say that
there is no God. They are called atheist. They not only believe that there is
no God but they are continuously searching every available material to prove
their belief. If any body dares to argue with them, they will vehemently quote
each and every word of the Bible to
support their claim. They are well versed with the Bible. Day and night they
are scanning the Bible for clues with which they can refute the existence of
God. It is quite interesting to note that they are well versed with the Bible
than any other preacher or any staunch believer.
As for the set of people who believes in God,
there is one group who says that there is God. They can see the presence of God
in every thing. They know that there is God. They will also vehemently speak
about God. If somebody enters into a dialogue with them on the subject, they
would remind us that they knew this god very well. Their ancestors were staunch
believers of the god. Their ancestors have erected famous churches. And they
would proudly inform us that they need not be taught about this god. They would
tell us that there are many people who does not know god. And instruct us that we
may kindly go to those people and tell them about this god. They would say that
don’t waste your time in telling them about God. On Sundays they would go to
churches, hear sermons, take Holy Communion and return home. They live
according to the law of the world. Their faith is only when they are in the
church. They are like professors. They teach in the colleges and universities.
They are brilliant scholars in the subject. They taught the subject for
remuneration. That is their job, their profession. They are preaching their
knowledge, but not practicing what they knew in their own life.
Among the people
who knew god there is another group. Their knowledge of God is not from reading
the literatures. Their knowledge about the God is by experiencing the presence
of God in their daily life. They may be rich, they may be poor. No matter whatever
may be their status in the society. But they have some thing common to share.
They have the experience that the God touch their lives. When Jesus touched their lives they have to
tell somebody. Such people would gather together. They would tell every other
person what the lord has done in their life. They share their experience with others
and glorify the almighty. They would praise God and sing hallelujah to the most
high. They worship god relentlessly and sing their praises.
In Genesis we hear
what Jacob declares.” Surely the Lord is in this place and I knew it not”. He
was running away from the wrath of his brother. He was afraid of death by the
hand of his brother. In his misery he fell asleep and the hand of the Lord
touched him. The God gave him assurances and made him stand steady. Now he knew
that the Lord is with him. He is no more afraid of his brother.
We have seen
worship in the book of Isaiah. In chapter 6 the Lord is sitting on a throne,
high and lifted up, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above it stood
seraphim; each one had six wings; with two he covered his face, with two he
covered his feet and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory”
We can see another
group in the Book of Revelations. “ A great multitude which no man can number,
from every nation, from all tribes, and people and tongues , standing before
the throne and before the Lamb, clothed
in white robes, with palm branches in their hands , and crying out with a loud
voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who
sits upon the throne and to the lamb!”. These are they who have come out of the
great tribulations; they have washed their robes and made them white in the
blood of the Lamb. In the presence of the Lord we can see that there are
blessings, glory, wisdom, thanks giving, honor, power and might.
Let us sing “Hosanna in the Highest”
